Empowering Staff Networks & Inclusive Workplaces Across the UK

Staff Equality Networks Ltd helps organisations design, strengthen and measure Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), improve equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and build cultures where every voice is heard.

Equality – Diversity – Inclusion

Staff Equality Networks is a trailblazing consultancy that is proudly 100% Black, female, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ owned. We are dedicated to driving meaningful change by embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into the core of workplaces. With our unique perspective and deep understanding of the complexities surrounding DEI, we offer a range of practical, easy-to-follow initiatives designed to help organisations navigate what can often feel like a daunting landscape.

At Staff Equality Networks, we recognise that the journey toward true inclusion can be challenging, with potential pitfalls along the way. However, we firmly believe that mistakes are an integral part of the learning process. Our approach is built on a foundation of support, empathy, and non-judgment. We work alongside your organisation to foster an environment where everyone feels valued and included, no matter their background or identity.

Our services are centred around four core offerings that are designed to create lasting, positive change within your organisation:

Independent DEIB Audits to assess culture, policy, and practice.

Equality Impact Assessment reviews to strengthen compliance and transparency.
EDI Strategy Outsourcing, helping organisations design and deliver measurable inclusion plans.

Bespoke training for leaders ready to embed change.

Difference between Employee Resource Groups and staff networks

“Staff groups” is an informal term used to describe networks of individuals in a workplace who share similar interests, backgrounds, or experiences. These groups often emerge as communities that recognize a need or desire for a collective voice within the organization. Examples include networks for Black and ethnic minorities, employees experiencing menopause symptoms, or working parents.

As an employer, understanding the dynamics of these groups is essential. By fostering a supportive environment and establishing open lines of communication, employers can create valuable mechanisms that enhance staff engagement, empowerment, and retention.

There are two primary types of staff groups:

5

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs): These provide a safe space for individuals who share a specific characteristic, often related to equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

5

Staff Networks: These groups focus on shared interests or influencing organizational policies.

While both ERGs and staff networks may share similar goals, an ERG typically centres on giving a voice to a specific under-represented group, whereas a staff network may serve as a broader platform for the entire workforce.
